Description

Opal Rainforest 19 Sock Yarn

Rainforest is back for the 19th year, with eight exciting colours in different designs, colourful and diverse like the rainforest.

“Happy children’s laughter sounds across the playground of the jungle school. The creative caretaker, Willibald, and the lenient principal, Anna, join the break supervisor. The fidgety class clown, Francis, talks to the class representative, John, about the last lesson of the electrifying physicist Albert and about their favourite teacher, the patient, Ms. Schmid. Then the bell rings, and the dedicated secretary, Hanna, asks the jungle children to return to class.”

  • Fibre content: 75% wool, 25% polyamide
  • Ball size: 100 grams
  • Sock Yarn: 4 ply
  • Approximate length: 425 metres
  • Recommended needle size: 2-2.5mm
  • Care: Machine washable, but it is always wise to follow the care instructions on the ball band.

Sock yarns are wonderfully versatile and are the perfect choice for knitting many styles of accessories, including mittens, gloves and hats, as well as socks.

Opal uses this range to donate 10% of profits to the rainforests, which helps:

  • Stopping the destruction of rainforests by companies and governments.
  • Preserve the natural habits of humans, animals and plants in the rainforests.
  • Promote respect for human and land rights for indigenous people.
  • Helping the victims (human and animal) of environmental destruction, hunting and expulsion.
  • Strengthening civil society in rainforest regions to fight injustice and environmental degradation.
  • Working with scientists to protect and research rainforests.
  • Educating politicians and consumers about environmentally damaging consumer behaviours.

Currently, Opal has managed to raise 284,000 Euros for this cause.
