Hats using the Addi Express Kingsize

29 February 2024 By Nicolette 4 Comments

The next projects I made using the new Addi Express Kingsize were a few hats. You can make a hat from casting on to wearing it in about 30 minutes from start to finish!

I had a couple of balls of Sirdar Jewelspun Aran left from knitting blankets in the autumn of 2022, so I thought I’d try knitting a couple of hats using them.

Hat knitting was fun as I cranked 140 rounds, and then the two ends are gathered and joined, and you end up with a very cosy hat. I enjoy wearing these hats and find them warm and comfortable, but Neil finds them a little too snug for comfort.

Many videos on YouTube show how to make a hat from start to finish.

I found Making a Hat by Jen Geigley helpful.

How to Make Different-Sized Hats using tension to change the size of your hat by Tilly Douglas

I also used a 6ply Opal sock yarn (from my yarn collection) held with a strand of Drops Kid silk in Grey (10). This combination gives the hat a lovely, soft, fuzzy feeling.

I should have enough of some of these yarns to make cowls to go with the hats.

I’ve been missing your posts. Hope all is well, and that you are just busy. The summer has gone by fast for me, and I’ve been knitting small things through the heat and humidity. Anxious to start on a sweater again. Happy Knitting!

“it is pure potential. Every ball or skein of yarn holds something inside it, and the great mystery of what that might be can be almost spiritual”
